Puerto Rico Throws Hat In Post-PASPA Ring

Puerto Rico’s governor is backing new legislation to create an independent gaming commission and regulate online and retail sports betting at various locations on the island.

Introduced last week, bill C2038 would consolidate oversight of casinos and racing under a new gaming board and add sports betting to the roster of lawful gambling activities in Puerto Rico. 

Governor Ricardo Rosselló described the legislation as a bold step to put Puerto Rico at the “vanguard” of U.S. jurisdictions looking to capitalize on last year’s U.S. Supreme Court ruling to overturn the "PASPA" federal ban.
