Video game developers are finding workarounds to recently-enacted Chinese legislation that would classify random prize boxes, a mainstay of in-game bonusing, as gambling.
One of the world’s largest game developers, Blizzard, announced on Monday that it was changing the way that "loot boxes" function inside its popular Overwatch title.
These digital rewards deliver a set of randomly determined but sought-after and rare in-game items, which can be used to customise an individual player’s game.
