Portugal’s Santa Casa Passes €3bn In Sales Ahead Of Online Betting Launch

A continued ramp-up in Santa Casa’s nascent retail betting product, Placard, helped the group surpass €3bn in sales turnover for the first time in 2017, ahead of the delayed launch of its majority-owned online betting venture Sociedade de Apostas Sociais later this year.

State-owned lottery and land-based betting monopoly Jogos Santa Casa announced in its latest annual report that group sales rose 9.1 percent year-on-year to €3.03bn in 2017.

The landmark €3bn sales total comes just two years after the group cleared the €2bn mark for the first time in 2015.
