Poland’s largest bookmaker STS has bought a stake in Swedish-listed Better Collective as part of a drive to expand its international presence, while the country’s state-owned lottery operator pays young coders to bolster its identity-checking software.
Mateusz Juroszek, the president of STS’ management board, announced on Monday that the company had recently acquired a stake in Better Collective for more than €1m.
The transaction was performed by local company Betplay International, in which Juroszek and his father Zbigniew each hold a 50 percent stake.
STS’ president said that he planned to raise the company’s stake in the sports-betting affiliate even further as part of efforts to expand its international presence.
