The worst fears of the Polish gambling industry over the effects of the recent lobbying scandal have come closer to being realised after Poland’s embattled sports minister resigned following allegations of corruption.
As reported by GamblingCompliance yesterday, both the sports minister Miroslav Drzewiecki and the head of the ruling Civic Platform Party Zbigniew Chlebowski had been accused of lobbying on behalf of the country’s gambling interests to block proposed changes to national gambling laws that had the potential to cost the industry up to €111m.
