Tax arrears continue to hamper online gambling companies from resuming operations in quarantine-hobbled Philippines, but the nation’s tax office is close to approving clearances for several operators.
Bureau of Internal Revenue (BIR) deputy commissioner of operations Arnel Guballa told reporters on Thursday that the BIR is processing applications from “many” Philippine Offshore Gaming Operator (POGO) licensees to clear up unpaid taxes.
The director of the task force investigating POGO revenue added that some applicants are unduly concerned about the process, which was announced on May 7.
