Pennsylvania Operators Not Walking Away From Online Gaming Despite Wire Act Opinion

Pennsylvania regulators are confident the U.S. Department of Justice’s (DOJ) recent opinion on the scope of the federal Wire Act will not cause companies licensed for online casino gaming to pull back from launching operations.

“We have not heard that any will be pulling out now,” Kevin O’Toole, executive director of the Pennsylvania Gaming Control Board (PGCB), told the Pennsylvania House Appropriations Committee during an hour-long hearing on Wednesday on the agency’s fiscal year 2019-2020 budget.

“I think they all are examining their own options to make sure it’s an intrastate operation and they can fulfill the goal of opening online,” O’Toole said.
