The Pennsylvania Gaming Control Board (PGCB) approved the state’s first sports-betting applications on Wednesday, and officials with one of the casinos receiving a license say the first wagers could be accepted as early as November.
The PGCB granted sports wagering licenses to Greenwood Gaming and Entertainment, which owns Parx Casino in Bensalem, and Mountainview Thoroughbred Racing Association, a subsidiary of Penn National Gaming that operates Hollywood Casino in Grantville.
In addition to its Bensalem location, Greenwood also received permission to offer sports betting at its South Philadelphia Turf Club location, the first venue inside the city of Philadelphia to receive approval.
