Penn National Crosses Video Gaming Divide

In a landmark transaction, Penn National on Friday announced the purchase of Prairie State Gaming (PSG), one of the largest video gaming operators in Illinois.

This is the first time a major casino company has bought a video gaming terminal (VGT) operator in Illinois, signaling the rapid emergence of video gaming as a viable sector of the gambling market.

PSG operates a network of 1,100 VGTs in a rapidly growing market of nearly 21,000 total gambling machines spread across 4,865 Illinois bars, truck stops and other retail locations.
