At precisely three minutes after 10am Eastern time one year ago, U.S. Supreme Court Justice Samuel Alito began reading perhaps the most important court decision in the history of the gambling industry.
“We reverse,” Alito said softly but firmly after his description of lower court rulings which upheld the federal sports-betting ban included in the Professional and Amateur Sports Protection Act (PASPA) of 1992.
Until that moment, Nevada was the only state accepting legal and regulated bets on individual sporting events.
