Offshore Sites Tempt European Players Seeking Respite From Gambling

Responsible gambling advocates are concerned that offshore gambling operators and affiliates are bypassing GAMSTOP, the UK self-exclusion programme, by buying placement with search engines.

The Betting and Gaming Council (BGC) is calling on search companies to update gambling blacklists to make sure unlicensed operators are not diverting online consumers looking to be excluded from their gambling habits.

Searches for GAMSTOP mean Google algorithms are offering ads promoting bonuses through betting sites, with some promoting software that could evade software meant to protect problem gamblers.
