A New South Wales (NSW) state court has issued a record A$207,500 ($140,000) fine to Ladbrokes' Australian arm over the latest breach of inducement laws relating to online gambling advertising.
The NSW Local Court in Sydney on Thursday fined Ladbrokes for running four of its own advertisements and two ads by subsidiary bookmaker Neds on free-to-air television station Channel 7, Instagram and Facebook in 2018.
The promotions offered a “Deposit $50, get $250 in bonus bets” deal for new account holders, NSW government agency Liquor & Gaming NSW said in a statement on Friday.
