Novomatic Unfazed By German Machines Crackdown

Novomatic is not overly concerned about a German state and municipal crackdown on slot-machine halls that is roiling the industry because clampdown efforts are not clear or coherent, the Austrian gambling giant’s chief executive has said.

Gaming machine hall operators are fighting municipalities, including Berlin, that are seeking to shut venues to implement minimum distance requirements, with scores in jeopardy.

But Novomatic, a venue operator as well as machines manufacturer, is not worried, according to chief executive Harald Neumann.

The pressure “affects business freedom”, said Neumann, who has been Novomatic's CEO since 2014.
