Norway is adding to its arsenal of tools targeting gambling transactions by unlicensed foreign operators, as of January 1, the Norwegian Gaming Authority (Lotteri-og stiftelsestilsynet) said.
The Gaming Authority is looking to further impede gambling payments by rejecting transactions based on company names, rather than just account numbers, the authority said last week.
The regulatory amendments, which were passed in May and will take effect next month, will grant the Gaming Authority more power to request information from Norwegian financial institutions on potential illicit online gambling transactions.
