The Norwegian government has once again strengthened and clarified its gambling payment blocking regulations, as it attempts to make good on a promise to reinforce its gambling monopoly and protect vulnerable players.
Since 2011, banks and financial institutes in Norway have been banned from transferring money to unlicensed gambling operators.
State-owned Norsk Tipping and Norsk Rikstoto are the only two companies legally allowed to offer gambling services in Norway.
On Friday, the government announced that it had adopted new amendments specifying that the payment ban extends to companies that carry out payment transactions on behalf of unlicensed gambling companies.
