NFL Still On Learning Curve Regarding Sports-Betting Partnerships

The National Football League (NFL) has been slower to embrace the growing American sports-betting industry than its major sports league peers, as was evident during Tuesday’s Sports Betting USA conference.

One exchange between Chris Halpin, the NFL’s chief strategy and growth officer, and Jeff Gural, the owner of the Meadowlands Racetrack in New Jersey, provided a window into the league’s relationship with the sports-betting industry to date.

Gural’s track, and the sportsbook inside it, sits adjacent to MetLife Stadium, home of the NFL’s New York Giants and Jets, and on game days the co-existence between the two has not been a peaceful one.
