New York Governor Andrew Cuomo’s budget proposal includes a proposed expansion of sports betting, but not quite to the scale that supporters had hoped to see.
In his executive budget proposal presented Tuesday afternoon, Cuomo included a call for a minor change to state law that would permit casinos to offer on-premises mobile outside designated sports-betting lounges, but still within the casino.
New York’s existing 2013 law requires all sports betting to be conducted inside the sports-betting lounge, and requires the bettor to be present, which restricts the usage of kiosks elsewhere on the property or on-premise mobile.
