New York Governor Andrew Cuomo called for sports betting to be authorized in the state’s four upstate casinos in the first 100 days of his 2019 agenda, but his administration may have slammed on the brakes for further expansion for several years.
Cuomo made the statement as part of his State of the State and Budget address Tuesday in Albany.
“It’s here, it’s a reality, and it will help generate activity in those casinos,” Cuomo said.
In-person sports betting is already legalized at four casinos that were permitted as part of a 2013 gaming expansion in New York.
The four casinos are Tioga Downs in Nichol, del Lago Resort and Casino in Waterloo, Rivers Casino & Resort in Schenectady, and Resorts World Catskills in Kiamesha Lake.
