Sports betting in New York is set to begin later this year after gaming regulators on Monday unanimously approved regulations for land-based casinos and resisted lobbying by sports leagues for an official data mandate.
The regulations, which were approved 5-0 by the New York State Gaming Commission (NYSGC), do not include provisions requiring sportsbooks to use official league data to settle in-play wagers or share anonymized bet-level information with leagues in real time.
