New Jersey Will Maintain Standards, Regulator Says

In a reassuring but challenging speech to Atlantic City casino bosses on Tuesday, the new chief regulator of New Jersey’s gaming industry vowed to maintain the state’s vigorous oversight despite drastic cuts.

“I don’t want the public or anybody to think we’re going to sacrifice integrity because it would be the death knell of the casino industry if we’re perceived to be corrupt,” said David Rebuck, the acting director of the New Jersey Division of Gaming Enforcement.

Rebuck told about 300 gaming industry officials attending the 15th annual East Coast Gaming Congress his primary office will be in Atlantic City instead of the state capital of Trenton.
