New Jersey Attorney General Gurbir Grewal on Tuesday singled out Las Vegas Sands and its chairman Sheldon Adelson in announcing he has submitted a Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) request for records from the U.S. Department of Justice on its decision last month to restrict internet gambling.
“Press reports indicate that pressure to reconsider the legality of online gaming followed lobbying efforts by Sheldon Adelson and affiliated lobbyists,” Grewal said in a statement.
“After Adelson’s Coalition to Stop Internet Gambling was unable to persuade Congress to address the issue, then-U.S. Attorney General Jeff Sessions agreed to look into it,” the statement said.
