After anticipating a new record handle for sports betting on this year’s Super Bowl between the New England Patriots and Los Angeles Rams, Nevada sports books sustained a decline of almost 8 percent to $145.9m.
Gaming analysts are still trying to figure out why the record of $158.5m, set during last year’s Super Bowl between the Patriots and Philadelphia Eagles, did not fall but out-of-state competition is not a prime suspect.
