Nevada Governor Brian Sandoval told GamblingCompliance he wants the Silver State to become a global hub for e-sports after his Gaming Policy Committee this week recommended that the state regulate e-sports wagering.
The committee, which Sandoval chairs, met for a final time Wednesday and determined that Nevada should permit betting on video gaming competitions known as e-sports.
“As a result of the Gaming Policy Committee meetings, Nevada will pursue making e-sports wagering available in our state in the near future. I know that Nevada can and will become the e-sports capital of the world,” Sandoval said in an emailed statement.
