The Netherlands Gambling Authority (KSA) says it has taken action to ensure that 23 affiliates no longer advertise online gambling services, as part of the long run-up to the anticipated opening of the country’s online market.
The KSA said on Friday it had examined 44 websites selected by the authority’s own observations and external reports, leading to the discovery that 26 were advertising online gambling.
Out of the 26 sites contacted by the KSA, 20 of them immediately stopped their gambling advertising once they had been reminded by the regulator that their “behaviour was illegal”.
A further three sites adhered to the KSA’s instructions once they had been threatened with the possibility of the regulator “imposing a penalty” on them, it said.
