National Football League (NFL) owners on Monday voted 31-1 to approve the Oakland Raiders to move to Las Vegas, a historic development which promises to elevate the gambling mecca’s status as one of the world’s premier entertainment destinations.
The only dissenting vote came from the Miami Dolphins. Stephen Ross, owner of the Dolphins, said he voted no because NFL owners “owe it to the fans to do everything we can to stay in the communities that have supported us until all options have been exhausted.”
At least 24 of 32 votes were required to approve the move, and the vote was not expected to be so lopsided.
