Almost a month after Governor Steve Bullock signed a bill legalizing sports betting in Montana, lottery officials have begun the process of deciding precisely how wagering via a state-wide network of kiosks will operate.
Under House Bill 725, the Montana Lottery will directly operate sports betting, which is expected to be rolled out shortly after the start of the National Football League (NFL) season in September.
“We haven’t drilled down on the specifics, including what sports will be offered,” Jennifer McKee, communications manager with the Montana Lottery, told GamblingCompliance.
“We are not starting from scratch,” McKee added. “In many parts of the world and in several U.S. states, lotteries operate sports betting.
