A bill that would add mobile sports betting to Rhode Island’s current land-based offerings unanimously cleared a Senate committee and is headed for a vote by the full Senate.
The bill — S0037 — would legalize mobile sports betting through the state’s two Twin River casinos, both of which have land-based sportsbooks at their respective locations in Tiverton and Lincoln.
With the servers being physically located on-site at the two casinos, lawmakers believe they can avoid a constitutional requirement for a voter referendum to add gaming locations.
