Minister Shortens Odds On Brazilian Bingo Prohibition

Comments from the Minister of Justice last week suggest that the government could move to outlaw bingo halls and slot machines in the wake of the ‘Operation Hurricane’ scandal.

The Brazilian Minister of Justice, Tardo Genro, said last week that the Lula administration’s position on gambling remains the same as it was in 2004, when the President attempted to introduce legislation that would shut down bingo parlours and outlaw slot machines throughout the vast South American country.
