The Michigan House of Representatives passed a package of gaming bills on Wednesday that would legalize sports betting and online casino gaming, but the bills still have yet to earn the support of Governor Gretchen Whitmer.
The package of gaming bills that includes House Bill 4311, an online gaming bill, and House Bill 4916, which permits sports betting, was voted out of the House Ways and Means Committee on Tuesday and then cleared the House late Wednesday afternoon.
In an effort to move the bills closer to a product that would garner Whitmer’s support, both bills include higher tax rates than previous versions.
