After almost a full year of negotiations following an outgoing governor’s veto last December, Michigan legislators have reached an agreement with Governor Gretchen Whitmer to legalize online casino gaming and sports betting.
The Senate Regulatory Reform Committee voted to move a package of amended gambling bills to the Senate floor Tuesday and the full Senate is expected to vote on the package Wednesday before ending its session for the year.
In a statement, a spokeswoman for Whitmer said the governor was “pleased with the progress on gaming over the course of the year.”
