Michigan iGaming Debate Stirs To Life As Senate Majority Leader Enters Fray

In Michigan, Republican Senate Majority Leader Arlan Meekhof has been meeting with local gaming industry interests about how best to amend an internet gambling bill that has sat idle for more than a year, GamblingCompliance has learned.

The measure in question, Senate Bill 203, was introduced last March by Republican Senate Majority Floor Leader Mike Kowall. Days later, the bill was approved by the Senate Regulatory Reform Committee on which Kowall sits.

It has not been taken up since.

Late last week, however, GamblingCompliance obtained an updated draft of SB 203 that sources in the state capital said was written with input from Meekhof’s office.
