A-Max Results Point to Junkets’ Influence in Macau

With A-Max yesterday reporting that its 80 percent indirectly owned AMA International operation has surpassed the HK$43bn mark in rolling-chip turnover, analysts at Jefferies have produced a timely analysis of the whys and wherefores of how junkets operate, underlining their collective importance to the casino market in Macau.The importance of the junkets, and junket consolidators such as A-Max in particular, to Macau’s VIP market can hardly be overstated. As Ted Chan, chief executive of A-Max, said in reporting the fifth straight month when AMA has produced rolling chip volumes in excess of HK$40bn, the VIP market “continues to be a significant growth driver” for Macau.
