Maturing Spanish Market May Ditch Online Licensing Window

The head of the Spanish regulator would like to see an end to the country’s limited licensing windows, among a range of expected tweaks to Spain's solidifying online gambling market.

December 2018 brought the closure of a year-long open tender period during which operators were encouraged to apply for a Spanish licence. With that window now slammed shut, eager operators will have to wait until the government decides to open a new one.

Juan Espinosa García, director general at Spanish regulator, the DGOJ, said he was backing calls to do away with the limited licensing period altogther.
