Massachusetts Treasurer Renews Debate Over Online Lottery Tickets, Apps

Massachusetts Treasurer Deborah Goldberg plans to return to the state capitol in Boston early next year to continue lobbying lawmakers in an effort to take the state’s profitable lottery online as it tries to remain viable in a rapidly changing gaming industry.

“This session I will continue to work with the legislature for the authorization to sell products online to ensure modernization and growth of the lottery,” Goldberg told GamblingCompliance.

Goldberg recently submitted House Bill 26 calling for the legalization of on online lottery in Massachusetts.

The measure would specifically allow the lottery to sell its tickets “over the internet or through the use of mobile applications.”
