Massachusetts Maps Out Plan For Online Gaming Regulation

A Massachusetts commission formed to study online gaming and fantasy sports has recommended a regulatory structure but called for the state to “hold off” on legalizing interactive casino and poker games until its land-based casino industry is fully developed.

Formed in 2016 at the request of lawmakers, the Massachusetts Special Commission on Online Gaming, Fantasy Sports Gaming and Daily Fantasy Sports (DFS) released its draft report on Tuesday outlining a step-by-step approach to regulation, beginning with DFS, and calling on lawmakers to also consider esports “as an economic development opportunity for the state.”
