Massachusetts Gaming Regulators Seek To Secure Racing’s Survival

The Massachusetts Gaming Commission (MGC) has thrown its support behind legislation that would give the regulator the power to divert casino tax money to support a proposed $150m equine park and racetrack.

Steve Crosby, the commission’s chairman, recently testified before the Massachusetts Legislature’s Joint Committee on Consumer Protection and Professional Licensure in support of House Bill 9, which would allow for a complete overhaul of the way horseracing is regulated in the state.

The bill would grant the gaming commission the authority to oversee and regulate all aspects of horseracing and simulcasting in Massachusetts.
