Should the Massachusetts Senate approve an amendment to the state’s $41bn budget to lift a sunset provision making daily fantasy sports (DFS) legal in the state, do not expect an influx of companies looking to enter the market, according to the chairman of an industry trade association.
“I don’t think this would open up the state, but with that said, just having the long-term assurance that it’s going to be a good market for start-ups and other DFS companies certainly helps,” said Peter Schoenke, chairman of the Fantasy Sports Trade Association (FSTA).
