Massachusetts Bill Seeks To Legalize DFS, Offers Sports-Betting Guidelines

With Massachusetts lawmakers facing a July 31 deadline to make permanent the temporary regulations for daily fantasy sports (DFS) adopted two years ago, state Senator Eileen Donoghue cautioned her colleagues that permanently legalizing DFS is not without risk.

But Donoghue, a Democrat, said that “if done right, it would provide distinct benefits to the state while allowing millions of fans to continue playing a game that they love.”

The Fantasy Sports Trade Association (FSTA) estimates there are about 500,000 DFS players in Massachusetts.
