Maryland Panel Nixes Special Session For MGM Casino

MGM Resorts International’s plan to open a mega casino just outside Washington, D.C. came to a screeching halt Wednesday when a Maryland gambling panel advised against convening a special session of the state legislature to authorize the casino.

The panel voted 8-3 in favor of opening the casino and lowering Maryland’s 67 percent tax rate on gaming, but that was not enough for the consensus needed to justify a special session.
