Maryland Moves To Clarify Legal Status Of Fantasy Sport

Maryland lawmaker John Olszewski Jr. presented a bill last week to a house committee that would exempt fantasy sports from their state gambling prohibitions, and pave the way for the introduction of nationally syndicated competitions in the state.The move, which was broadly welcomed by the Maryland house ways and means committee, could help resolve the uncertainty that prevents fantasy sports, which are legal under US federal law, from being offered commercially in a number of states.
