Maryland Casinos Tout Success But Seek To Remain Competitive

Anthony Brown, a Maryland congressman and former lieutenant governor, has urged lawmakers, executives and regulators to work together to keep the state’s gaming industry growing in a mid-Atlantic region that has become intensively competitive.

Speaking at an American Gaming Association (AGA) event held at Maryland’s largest casino, Brown, a Democrat, recalled the challenge supporters of casinos had in pitching the state’s voters that the benefits of expanded gaming would far outweigh any negative impacts before they were legalized in 2008.
