Maryland casino operators are pushing for sports betting to run exclusively through the state’s six casino licensees, putting them at odds with racetracks and other interests that are lobbying to be included.
During a Senate Budget and Taxation Committee hearing last week in Annapolis, representatives of several casino operators, including MGM Resorts International, Cordish Companies and Golden Gaming, urged legislators to grant them exclusivity over land-based and mobile sports betting, shutting out racetracks, off-track betting locations, and sports stadiums and arenas.
