Speaking at last week’s Global Gaming Expo in Las Vegas, Jorge Oliveira, Chief of the Macau Gaming Commission, warned US regulators to be more vigilant in their scrutiny of their licensee’s activities overseas. He also suggested that they run the risk of being found wanting when emerging jurisdictions apply their own, improving, standards.The Chinese Special Administrative Region of Macau has attracted the attention of the world’s investment community in recent days as commentators have re-assessed the financial risks associated with continuing capital investment in a market which some say may be close to saturation.
