Macau Minister Rules Out Further Casino Concessions

During a debate dominated by themes of sustainable development and the social cost of gambling, Economy and Finance Minister Francis Tam told members of the Macau Legislative Assembly that the Government will restrict the number of casino operators in Macau to six and insist that those operators obey their promises to invest in general infrastructure in the SAR.During Wednesday’s session outlining his Ministry’s policy for the forthcoming year, Tam was forced to defend the Government’s licensing of casino operators amidst charges of a lack of transparency from certain politicians.
