Macau Ferry Operations Outside Gambling Law, Argues Ho

Dr. Stanley Ho has publicly announced that the Las Vegas Sands Corporation should lose their ferry license for the new Pac On Pier in Macau. The charge could be a damaging blow to the Venetian, which the ferry fleet is supposed to support.Citing Macau law number 16/2001, Dr. Ho said at a press conference last week that, “the scope of activities permitted to gaming concessionaires shall be exclusively the operation of the games of fortune and chance and other casino games.”
 
Dr. Ho reasoned that, “since shipping is not within the scope of the gaming business, the grant of a ferry operation license to a gaming concessionaire is in conflict with the law and the rationale behind such a law.”
