The drive to bring expanded gambling to New Hampshire now faces an increasingly uphill battle, with Govenor John Lynch last week stating he is extremely sceptical of proposals to open the state to slot machines. The shift comes as casino proposals in other New England states also face growing opposition.In a radio interview last week, Lynch said there is no “political will' in New Hampshire’s legislature to expand gambling this year. Moreover, Lynch suggested he would not be easily swayed in favour of any gambling proposal. “Unless I am absolutely convinced it wouldn't have an effect on our quality of life, I wouldn't even entertain a discussion about supporting it,” Lynch told a radio show caller.
