Louisiana Riverboat Gaming Bill In Holding Pattern In Legislature

A sponsor of a bill that would dramatically alter the gaming landscape in Louisiana still lacks the necessary votes to get it passed in the state Senate, forcing him to continue lobbying fellow lawmakers for support and tabling the bill until Wednesday.

Senator Ronnie Johns, a Republican, last week did not want the Senate to consider his bill, Senate Bill 316, which would allow the owners of the state’s 15 riverboats to move their floating casinos onto dry land, saying he was a couple of votes short of passage.
