With a national ban on secondary lottery and keno products looming, Lottoland’s Australian arm is fighting back, launching an attack on the finances and propriety of the national newsagents association that lobbied for the ban.
Lottoland Australia on Tuesday alleged that newly obtained documents from the Australian Securities and Investments Commission (ASIC) showed that the Australian Lottery and Newsagents Association (ALNA) faces “financial ruin”.
The company also accuses the ALNA of claiming a mandate from the bulk of the nation’s newsagents to lobby against Lottoland’s presence in the market despite ASIC documents indicating its membership amounted to less than 18 percent of operators.
