Republican Congressman Doug Collins of Georgia has been a reliable supporter of states’ rights to operate online lotteries in the ongoing Wire Act dispute, but he appears to be interested in moving to the Senate where his influence on gaming issues may not be as significant.
As the ranking Republican on the powerful House Judiciary Committee and one of the most ardent defenders of President Trump against impeachment, Collins has become a national political figure this year.
Shortly after 74-year-old Republican Senator Johnny Isakson of Georgia announced last month he would step down at the end of this year because of health concerns, Collins told Fox News he “would look at” succeeding Isakson.
