Lotteries Seek Talks With DOJ On Wire Act Reversal

Three weeks after a controversial reversal on internet gambling by the U.S. Department of Justice (DOJ), the trade association representing state lotteries is seeking a dialogue with the DOJ to protect lottery operations.

In a statement released on Monday, the North American Association of State and Provincial Lotteries (NASPL) said the January 14 opinion by the DOJ’s Office of Legal Counsel (OLC) “creates a substantially detrimental impact on the lottery industry, including traditional retail-based draw and instant lottery games, as well as traditional lottery games offered over the internet.”
